ETS NORD Focuses on Positive Environmental Impact

The company aims to be a leading player in its industry in terms of responsibility, emphasizing implementing sustainable development principles throughout its supply chain.
Enabling a sustainable living and natural environment and a society and business environment is more critical than ever. It provides companies with a competitive advantage and helps build a better future.
For ETS NORD, this means uncompromising responsibility for the environment, social impact, and governance.
“Taking care of natural resources and people’s well-being has been an integral part of ETS NORD’s operations since the company was founded in 1998,” says Jari Lehtonen, Country Director for Finland. “We aim to share best practices within our industry, develop environmentally friendly and energy-efficient ventilation solutions, and use responsibly sourced technologies and materials in our production processes.”
In spring 2024, ETS NORD inaugurated a new factory complex in Tallinn, representing a total investment of €11 million. The factory was built using demolition materials from old buildings, promoting landscaping, efficiently managing stormwater, and designing the structure for maximum energy efficiency. A solar park with 947 panels was installed on the roof. The total capacity is 435 kWp. During sunny months, the solar park produces up to 80 MWh of electricity—three times more than the new factory’s equipment requires.
The company has also begun constructing the most advanced and technologically capable ventilation industry testing laboratory in the Baltics. Once completed, the laboratory will enable measuring ventilation components’ acoustic and aerodynamic properties.
ETS NORD has introduced a code of ethics for its partners to enhance transparency in its supply chain, outlining the principles of responsible business. The company leads by example, with 75% of its production already covered by Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). An EPD provides information about a product’s environmental impact over its entire lifecycle, guiding product development toward more sustainable choices.
“To our knowledge, we are the only ventilation company in the Nordic region with such a high percentage of our production covered by EPDs,” notes Jari Lehtonen. “We are committed to maintaining our position at the forefront of sustainability and are steadily increasing this figure.”
In 2024, ETS NORD aims to reduce the group’s emissions by 10% compared to 2020, the baseline year for measuring its environmental footprint.
ETS NORD publishes an annual sustainability report detailing the critical actions taken to advance economic, social, and environmental responsibility in its operations. You can download the 2023 report here.
