ETS NORD launches a canopy maintenance service in Sweden

Regular maintenance helps control the lifecycle costs of technically advanced and heavily used canopies.

One of the largest companies in Northern Europe specializing in comprehensive ventilation solutions, ETS NORD, has launched a canopy-focused maintenance service in Sweden. The goal is to help ensure the uninterrupted operation of canopies used in restaurant and large kitchen environments for over 20 years.

Marcus Hintze, ETS NORD’s Export Sales Manager, explains that the rapid technical development of canopies in recent years has contributed to the emergence of a need for maintenance services.

“The technical features of canopies are evolving in response to increasing hygiene, ergonomics, and environmental requirements in kitchen work. With more complex equipment, the expectations placed on the expertise of maintenance organizations also rise. Only accredited ETS NORD service personnel are authorized to maintain our equipment.”

Canopies are also being used more intensively—some kitchens operate them around the clock. Without proper maintenance, various malfunctions and component failures are inevitable.

The third significant driver behind launching our maintenance service is ETS NORD’s foothold in the Swedish market.

The company began marketing NORDcanopy professional kitchen canopies in Sweden in 2022, focusing strongly on new technical solutions and environmental friendliness. According to Marcus Hintze, the business has developed even faster than expected. ETS NORD is launching Service & Support operations focused on canopy maintenance services as the next step.

“The rapid growth in the number of sites sparked the idea of needing our maintenance service as early as a year ago. Now, we can offer our canopies fast, reliable, and expert maintenance as close to the customer as possible.”

The maintenance is carried out by six authorized partners, coordinated by a service center based in Stockholm. Customers only need to send a maintenance request or report a malfunction via email—qualified maintenance will quickly be on-site to get the system back up and running.

Marcus Hintze emphasizes that an annual condition inspection is an excellent way to keep canopies operational and long-lasting. Unexpected malfunctions typically occur at the busiest times, and even a single unexpected downtime can quickly result in total costs exceeding several years’ worth of maintenance measures.

“Today’s canopies ensure a good breathing environment in the kitchen. They break down grease, capture heat, and keep the kitchen and ventilation system fully operational. Technical support and maintenance available throughout the entire lifecycle are the best way to ensure that the air in the kitchen is exchanged exactly as it should be.”
